Once you have a finished dish, you have a choice. You could serve it as is, or sample it and see if it needs more pepper or salt. To do this, take a spoon and dip it in the dish. If it is still hot, blow on it until it gets to a reasonable temperature, then take a sip. If it is too bitter, or too bland, you should put in salt. Salt also increases the soup's thickness. If the flavor is boring, you should at pepper. Pepper can also add a more complex, earthy, and slightly mild flavor to your soup.
When you are sampling a soup, try your best not to touch the inside of your mouth to the spoon, just in case you need to try it again.
In all, it could add a more complex and stimulating flavor if you sample your soup, and I recommend it if you like a more intricate flavor. Thank you for reading! Bye!
